Porter's On Main: Premier Fine Dining and Craft Cocktails in Gloucester, VA

Excellent from start to finish! The atmosphere, bar service, food, and overall experience was worth every penny. Mary served me the Wild Mushroom Aroncinni which was delicious and Matt made the best Cosmo ever!!!! I can't wait to go back

This was our first time here. It will not be the last. Our entire experience here was way beyond my expectations. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Everyone cared so much about making our evening a great dining experience. The Manage and Owner both visited every table to ensure all is well and that you are happy. The food is beyond words delicious and presented to you in top chef fashion. We have dined in fine restaurants around the world, and I will say it is one of the best restaurants we've ever eaten at. Fine dining at a very affordable price.

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious dinner at Porter’s On Main for our anniversary, and everything was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a sweet “Happy Anniversary” sign on our table which was such a thoughtful touch that made the evening feel extra special. Our waitress was friendly, the food was incredible, and the overall atmosphere was perfect. We’ll definitely be returning and sharing our experience with others. What an amazing addition to Gloucester!

Porter’s on Main absolutely blew us away! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm, inviting, and upscale without feeling stuffy. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for a date night or a special dinner with friends. The service was just as impressive—every staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care that we had a great experience. They all worked so hard and there was no standing around. Cocktails were so refreshing and delicious!!! Now for the food… wow. The French onion soup was rich, perfectly seasoned, and topped with that golden, melty cheese you dream about. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth good. And the pork chop? Hands down one of the best we have ever had—juicy, packed with flavor, and beautifully presented. We also had a Caesar salad and the cinnamon bread pudding dessert which were just as great! Porter on Main is a gem. We’ll definitely be back!

Dining at Porters was more than just a meal! From the crafted cocktails & delicious food to the impeccable service and ambiance, Porters was an experience! I ordered the old fashioned and brussel sprouts to start and ordered the soft shell crab starter for my main dish. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. I highly recommend dining at Porters and can’t wait to return.

The background music is well-curated and the layout spacious—ideal for both intimate dinners and lively gatherings. While steak might be the main attraction, we had a couple of amazing starters. The onion soup is rich and deeply flavorful, with caramelized onions and a golden, cheesy crust that’s comfort in a bowl. The seafood ceviche is refreshingly bright, showcasing impeccably fresh seafood with just the right kick of citrus and spice. And the crab cakes? Simply phenomenal—tender and generously packed with lump crab and served on a creamy base of sweet potatoes and sautéed spinach. This steakhouse may be new on the block, but it’s already proving it knows how to deliver an unforgettable dining experience—from ambiance, service, cocktails, appetizers and beyond. A must-visit for food lovers and steak connoisseurs alike.

Porter's was AMAZING! My husband and I went for our anniversary dinner last month. The ambience was cozy and the service was outstanding. I ordered the crab cake which was the best I've ever had and my husband ordered the ribeye that melts in your mouth! They even had a happy anniversary placecard for us. The price is exactly what you would expect for fine dining and a nice atmosphere. Gloucester needed a restaurant like this where you can get dressed up and go out for special occasions. We will definitely be back for our next occasion!

We had a really good dinner at Porter's On Main. The food was great, the drinks were delicious, and the dessert was amazing. It's on the pricier side, but honestly the quality makes it reasonable for a special occasion. My only complaint is that I wish salads came with the meal instead of being separate. Overall, solid spot for a nice dinner out. Gloucester really needed an upscale dining option like this.
